4. Service requests and quotes
You may request service by phone during normal business hours (Monday through Saturday, 9 AM to 8 PM; closed Sunday). Calls and messages received outside those hours are returned at the next opening.
When you contact us, we may ask for details such as:
- Your name and contact number
- Vehicle make, model, year, and location
- The issue you are experiencing
Based on this, we may give you a price quote and an estimated arrival time. Any quote given before the technician inspects the vehicle is only an estimate. Final pricing may change after on-site evaluation of:
- Actual vehicle configuration and condition
- Type of key or system required
- Complexity of the problem
We will explain any change to the quote before starting work. You may accept or decline the service at that time.
We give you an estimated arrival time when you call. This is not a guarantee and may change due to traffic, weather, prior jobs, or other factors outside our control.
5. Proof of ownership and identification
Reading Car Locksmith takes vehicle security and fraud prevention seriously. Before any vehicle entry, key making, key programming, rekeying, or ignition work, you must provide acceptable proof of ownership and identification.
You agree to have the following ready, as applicable:
- Valid government-issued photo ID
- Vehicle registration, title, or other ownership document matching your ID, or
- Other documents as reasonably required by the technician
If you cannot provide proof of ownership or identity that satisfies the technician, the technician may refuse or stop service, even if you previously received a quote or ETA.
We are not responsible for any costs, losses, or damages that may result if service is refused or stopped due to lack of acceptable proof.
6. Right to decline or stop service
We may decline or stop service at any time at our sole discretion, including but not limited to situations where:
- You cannot provide acceptable proof of ownership or identity
- The technician believes the vehicle may be stolen or involved in illegal activity
- Site conditions are unsafe or inappropriate for work
- The requested work is outside our scope (for example, residential or commercial)
- You refuse to agree to updated pricing after on-site inspection
- You act in a threatening, abusive, or unlawful manner
If we decline or stop service, you may still be responsible for any agreed-on service call or trip charges that have already become due under our policies, where allowed by law.
7. Vehicle condition and pre-existing damage
Automotive locksmith work may involve tools and procedures that interact closely with your vehicle’s locks, doors, ignition, key system, and electronics. Unlocking, key extraction, or ignition work on a damaged or worn vehicle can expose existing issues.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- You are responsible for the existing condition of your vehicle
- We are not liable for pre-existing damage, defects, or wear, even if first noticed during service
- We are not responsible for damage caused by rust, prior repairs, modifications, or manufacturer defects
If the technician discovers pre-existing damage, they will inform you when reasonably possible and discuss options. Certain services may not be possible or may carry higher risk in these situations. You may choose whether to proceed.
8. Payments and refunds
Pricing is by quote only and may depend on your location, vehicle, and service type. We do not publish fixed prices or price ranges on this site.
Payment terms, accepted payment methods, and any applicable fees are explained to you at the time of service or when you approve the final quote. By authorizing the work, you agree to pay all charges associated with the service.
Any refund or adjustment policy, if offered, is handled on a case-by-case basis and explained directly to you. These Terms do not create any general right to a refund.
